Peace, Freedom, and Independence

       Philippines, a country in the South East Asia that have been conquered, fought countless battles, and stood up against conquerors to declare peace and freedom. Philippines was freed from the dominance of the Spanish. President Diosdado Macapagal declared Independence Day as a national holiday to commemorate the independence and freedom of Philippines from the Spanish Era. July 12 of 1898, the Philippine flag was unfolded for the first fime with the first playing of the national anthem. The Philippines have come a long way from being conquered to an independent and developing country free from the Spanish. 


Independence day is celebrated every 12th of July annually to commemorate and remember the Philippine's independence and freedom from the 300 years of Spanish rule on June 12, 1898. Emilio Aguinaldo declared that day that the Philippines is finally independent. It was declared as a national holiday by President Diosdado Macapagal through presidential decree on 1962. On June 12 of this year is the 123rd celebration of Independence Day where it was celebrated nationwide especially in the Aguinaldo Shrine where the proud declaration of independece took place. However, the celebrated was limited due to safety precautions against COVID-19 pandemic.

       Independence day is one of the most important or significant events here in the Philippines to remind us of the bravery and desire for peace and independence of our ancestors and be freed from colonization of the conquering country, Spain. It also reminds us to preseve oir country and culture that the Filipinos of the past protected, to love our own. May the bravery and sacrifices of the Filipinos who fought before be appreciated and the results of their contributions are the reasons why we're still free and peacefulness that we are living right through this day. Let's hope that this freedom and peace will last forever and become once again a stabilised and developed nation.

       In commemoration of the Independence day, let's remind and honor the heroes of that day and the brave proclamation of independence of our country. Freedom and peace for everyone, hurray for Independence Day!
