Naragsak nga Kannawidan

Its the time of the year again for the citizens of Ilocos Sur, the Ilocanoes, every 28th of January until 17th of February we celebrate the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival to show and preserve the culture and traditions of our province. This event takes place in the renowned landmark of Ilocos Sur, the Vigan City Heritage. It is a very important event for all the Ilocano citizens as it also showcase the beauty of the traditions and culture of Ilocos Sur but things this year change and so it the festival due to the ongoing COVID pandemic that started and ruined our lives last year.

Kannawidan is supposed to be a festival full of fun and joy represenring the province of Ilocos sur and its citizens Ilocanoes but due to the pandemic, all festivals will be minimized and Kannawidan is no exception. But still, Kannawidan was still a fun festival as long as the people are smiling and enjoying their time and serving the true purpose of the festival. The Kannawidan this year may not be the same as how it used to be, lets just be thankful that it was still held and was not cancelled. The festival is a success as long as we Ilocanos were happy and satisfied of it.

It may not be as fun compared to the celebration before, a festival is still a festival. Lets adjust to the new normal for now and hope for things to return just like before and better. As long as we preserved our cultures and traditions, it will not be lost and forgotten. It is our own treasures that defines us Ilocanos.
