Preparedness For The Unknown
In a
world where everything comes and goes, full of unknowns and mysteries, crisis
and difficulties are unexpected, preparedness is very much needed. Philippines
is where we Filipinos’ live, and this beloved country of ours is situated in
this pacific region called Pacific Ring of Fire. Knowing this, we must always
be prepared for the worst calamities that’s why we disaster drills exist and
occur.
A
country being situated in the most dangerous part of the pacific region where
almost all types of disasters forms and originates. One strong disaster have a
potential to wipe thousands and millions of lives. Calamities like earthquakes
have one of the most dangerous threat to humanity, earthquakes are land
vibrations caused by a sudden slip on a fault. It is dangerous enough that it
can destroy thousands of infrastractures and kills ton of people especially the
strong earthquakes. It also causes other disasters like tsunami and landslide
to occur.
As a counter to these disasters, the
government have created drills like earthquakes drills to avoid and reduce the
risk of it and spread awareness about theses calamities. The National Disaster
Risk Reduction Management Council is the one in charge on making these drills
specifically the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill. Here they teach us
precautionary and safety measures and also the DO’s and DON’Ts before, during,
and after an earthquake.
Participating on these kinds of
drill is very important and helpful, it have a lots of benefits and increases
your chance of survival during an actual earthquake and reduces the risk and
injuries as minimum as possible. These practices and exercises may one day save
and help us from dangerous earthquakes and generally disasters. We must take
these drills and dangerous disasters seriously, it can leads to the loss of
thousands and millions of people’s live and even have the potential to wipe all
of humanity.
We are in the modern era with all
the advanced technologies and equipments out there but we should not solely
rely on this objects, it cannot save us all the time. People since way before
were able to survive and overcome these strong disasters without modern
technologies. We cannot only be saved by earthquake drills but we can also help
and save other people’s lives.
Preparedness is one of the key to
our survival, always be ready and alert because we don’t know what tomorrow or
the future have in for us. Disasters are unexpected and uncontrollable, it is
unknown to us mankind, we cannot fight nor stop it but we can only endure and
overcome it. Together, let's all be ready, aware and prepared.
