It's More Fun in the Vigan
Celebration of festivals have been a part of our traditions and culture here in the Philippines . We Filipinos have a variety of different grand festivals, may it be about a celebration of a place or to honor a holy saint. Many different people from all over the globe visits our country to enjoy these fun festivals. Each respective place in the Philippine have they're own unique fiestas that represents they're own province or city. Festivals are such a fun event that should not be missed out as it represents the long history of our country.
Just like the other cities, Vigan also have a fiesta that is held every 25th of January to honor the city's patron Saint, St. Paul the Apostle.
This festival is a very important event as it represents the entirety of Vigan City and its citizens, it is supposed to showcase the beauty and history of our beloved Vigan and most of all, to pay tribute and give thanks to Saint Paul.
Marching bands, street dancers, and colorful handmade arts and crafts are always present during this fiesta but that was all in the past. Because this year, Vigan City festival isn't like the one it used to be due to the continuing deadly pandemic. The fun and entertaining fiesta that is supposed to be was minimize and celebrated a low-key festival but it is also for our own good to avoid the dangerous virus so all the people that attended the event was required to proper hygiene and safety gears to avoid the spreading of the virus. Celebration is no all about fun and entertainment, it is all about the place and the its people.
We may not be able to celebrate it to the fullest, atleast we were able to do the main objective of the event, to honor and give thanks to God and Saints for this another festival. We may not saw the flashing colorful outfits and crafts nor the marching bands and dancers, as long as we're all together it would be fun, that's what a festival is, unity and togetherness. Let's hope for the pandemic to be over so we can go back to our usual lives and enjoy to the fullest the next fiestas to come. Viva San Pablo, Viva Vigan!
